This fine Gaiwan has a structured surface and golden edges. It's a little hard to see in the picture, but the small knob on the lid is also gilded on top.

Gaiwan is a practical and elegant accessory to prepare and drink clean, loose tea leaves. It is mainly designed for tea preparation, but it can also be used as a cup. Gaiwan consists of a cup without a handle, a saucer and a lid.

Does not tolerate dishwasher.

How to use a Gaiwan:

Place the cup on the saucer, add your favorite tea in the cup and fill it with proper water temperature of the tea and let it soak. To drink directly from the Gaiwan: Take the saucer with one hand, to avoid burning your fingers on the hot cup, and hold with the other hand on the lid to prevent the leaves from leaving the cup. 

It may take some time to master this technique, but when you familiarize with the technique you will enjoy the art of the Gong Fu Te ceremony.
