Matcha hotaru is an excellent "beginner" matcha. Hotaru can be used both for tea or in cooking and works perfectly as an introduction to the world of matcha. Matcha hotaru Teen is aromatic, a bit bitter and has the Typic Matcha flavor.
Matcha - Japanese powder - is the ultimate green tea, made from the freshest and finest gyokuro tea leaves from the first harvest of the year. The leaves are not rolled, but immediately steamed after the harvest and then dried. The dried tea is called Tencha. The tencha is then painted on stone mill for a very fine powder - matcha. It is only this tea used in the traditional Japanese tea ceremony (cha no yu).
The ritual is based on Zen Buddhism's four basic principles: harmony, respect, purity and inner calm. With a bamboo spoon (Chashaku) you put the tea in a special bowl (Chawan), add the water and whip with a traditional bamboo whisk (the chas) until it starts to foam. Matcha is very invigorating and has a texture that is a bit like vegetable juice. Because you drink leaves, the body is added to a very high dose of "all the good in tea".
Use 1g per 80 ml of water at 70 degrees in temperature.
