This beautiful Japanese matcha dish is made in the area around the Japanese city of AriTa, the Saga Prefecture, Japan - the home of a rich ceramic heritage.

Here you make the finest porcelain, and ARITA is famous for its beautiful porcelain products that go back centuries. The city is known for producing ARITA-YAKI, also known as the Imari porcelain, characterized by its delicate patterns and brilliant colors.

Bowls for Matcha are called "Chawan" and are an important and indispensable part of a matcha tea ceremony. The most important quality of a matcha bowl is sufficient space to whip the matcha in and drink the tea off.
